This study explores the historical evolution and technological advancements of wind energy, emphasizing its significant role in sustainable development. From ancient windmills in Persia to modern wind turbines, wind energy harnesses renewable resources to meet global energy demands. The 19th-century innovations set the stage for today’s expansive wind farms, characterized by efficiency gains and integration with smart grids. The manuscript addresses ongoing research in turbine technologies, offshore applications, environmental impacts, and hybrid systems. As wind energy aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean energy and climate action, it presents opportunities for economic growth and job creation. Challenges such as intermittency, environmental considerations, and policy frameworks are discussed, highlighting the need for continued innovation and strategic investment to maximize wind energy's contribution to a sustainable future.
